AKT Demonstrations

We currently have a number of demonstrations under development which use the AKT triplestore:

CS AKTiveSpace

CS AKTiveSpace is a smart browser interface for the Semantic Web which combines an ontologically motivated view of the application domain, namely the UK computer science research community, and simple geographic information to provide information on the leading researchers and research hotspots in the UK. It should be stressed that this is a demonstration of experimental software that is being used to investigate different interaction styles for Semantic Web applications.

Launch CS AKTiveSpace (requires Mozilla 1.2+.)

AKTive EPSRC

AKTive EPSRC is a further development of the CS AKTive Space which is more directly aimed at the requirements of members of research funding agencies.

AKTive Futures

The aim of AKTive Futures is the support of the strategic decision process in large organisations. Long-term planning in organisations requires that board members have an understanding of the changes and trends in the environment in which the organisation operates. In AKTive Futures, we have produced a demonstrator based around the domain of the future of energy (rising demand vs. limits of supply, renewables vs. non-renewables, global warming and so on) that uses an ontology to structure and visualise information from a variety of types of source: qualitative, quantitative and natural language.

ColThing

ColThing is an earlier development of the CS AKTiveSpace which does not have a geographical view, and does not understand grant income nor interface with the community of practice service.

Requires Mozilla 1.2+ or IE6.
